sweetheart hamm loves the islands. and now theyve gained some more respect from me for this comment from diamonds....

I feel like with a band like Vampire Weekend is just seems so calculated, going through the same narrative styles and trying really hard to imitate. And it just sounds like an imitation. I don't even liken what we did to what they're doing. We had the same touchstone which was Graceland, which is a great starting point. That's what Paul Simon's great thing was is that he opened alot of people up to South African music and Brazil and all over and he was creative about it and you have to be creative in the way that you interpret and explore music. And I don't think that band is a very creative band I guess."

whats so great about that comment? the fact that he would feel the need to get so defensive over something like that, to me, just signifies that nick diamonds really is an idiot... vampire weekend sucks, but who does diamonds think he is? sounds pretty delusional and self rightious if you ask me... but what do i know? its just like, humbily move the fuck on and come with that new retarded shit. who gives the fuck about what nick diamonds thinks about a band that also chose to listen to graceland and then make music. The only diff is that vampire weekend sounds like they listened to a lot of smiths also.

p.s..... if you had been in the unicorns you would probably think you were pretty cool too. plus i think when he said that he was asked a direct question about people comparing islands and vampire weekend.
